Marit van den Berg is a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, the Netherlands, and a board-certified specialist in small animal internal medicine (Diplomate ECVIM-CA) at AniCura Specialistische Dierenkliniek Utrecht (SDU). She graduated cum laude from Utrecht University in 2016 and completed a rotating internship followed by a residency in small animal internal medicine at Ghent University (2016–2020). She became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine – Companion Animals (ECVIM-CA) in 2021.
In 2025, she obtained her PhD at Utrecht University with a thesis titled Unraveling canine pheochromocytoma, focusing on improving biochemical diagnosis, characterizing the molecular landscape, developing a histopathology-based prognostic tool after adrenalectomy, and establishing a preclinical in vitro model for drug screening. Her work combines clinical endocrinology with translational research.
Currently, she combines clinical work with postdoctoral research, with a particular focus on small animal endocrinology. She is an active member of the European Society of Veterinary Endocrinology (ESVE), where she serves as Board Member and Treasurer. She has received several awards for her research presentations at international conferences and is involved in collaborative endocrine research initiatives.
